The LightBAR study is part of the Lighthouse Consortium on Obesity Management (LightCOM), a collaborative research initiative between Denmark and the UK. This randomized controlled trial compares the effectiveness of an intensive, non-surgical weight loss program to bariatric surgery in adults with severe and complex obesity. The study aims to assess not only weight loss outcomes but also improvements in physical and mental health, utilizing innovative digital health technologies to support participants.

At our hospital, the study is set to open at the end of this month. I will be actively involved in recruiting participants and collecting data, contributing to research that could redefine obesity treatment pathways and offer alternative solutions to surgical interventions.

The IBD BioResource is a national platform designed to expedite research into Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis by building a panel of 50,000 recallable patients with detailed genetic and clinical data. This initiative aims to uncover the causes of IBD, predict disease progression, and develop better-targeted treatments.

I’m currently supporting this study through ongoing recruitment and data collection, helping to build a valuable resource for future research. It's rewarding to be involved in a project that could directly impact how IBD is managed and treated in years to come.
