The SIREN study was a pivotal UK-wide investigation launched in June 2020 to understand COVID-19 immunity and reinfection among healthcare workers. Involving over 44,000 participants across 135 NHS sites, it provided critical insights into how previous infections and vaccinations influenced immunity over time.
As a Clinical Research Practitioner Apprentice, I contributed to this study by collecting and managing data from participants at my hospital site. This hands-on experience deepened my understanding of large-scale epidemiological research and the importance of real-time data in shaping public health responses.
